LOL... I expect I'll get a lot of questions about this one. :P

And it's Poll Time! I had a heck of a time fitting everything I wanted to in this week's page, which is becoming a frequent struggle. I would liked to have fit in more panels this week, so I could improve the timing.

The pages are currently 520 x 630 pixels, and they average 350kb in file size. I'm considering taking the pages larger, but I don't want to distort everyone's LJ layouts or kill anyone's modem. So help me out with a little input!

Poll #993782 For the embiggenment of us all...

Which size would you prefer?

520 x 630 (the current size)
30(47.6%)
600 x 730
15(23.8%)
640 x 775
12(19.0%)
700 x 850
6(9.5%)

Here is a 70kb reference graphic so you can see how big each size is. Please keep in mind that bigger pages will equal bigger file sizes, although I will try to keep those in check. No more than 500kb; I promise!

the pages already stretch my page an eensy bit as is, so i'd rather see them just get longer than longer and wider. ^__^;

Hmm... the panels are usually 200 pixels high. So maybe something like 520 x 830? I should make a reference graphic for everyone.

oh, no, because you have the blue outline, whereas WoW, they're outlined in white. it just reminded me of that. :D

yeah, i got a kick out of that. especially by how closely they match!

the moo-cow girl does the electric slide, which is hilarious.

also, there's a group of women that walk around Stormwind (the big human capital) reciting the "crossing the streams" bit from Ghostbusters. How awesome is that?
There's also two guys named Lario and Muigi that are dressed in red and green and look an aweful lot like mario and luigi, and also a little green elf lookin thing named linkin....:D they get away with so much stuff in that game.

I've only played the original Warcraft games (I'll be damned if I'll pay a monthly fee), but I always enjoyed the movie references they'd slip in. "This is mah BOOM STICK!"

Zug zug.

This was cute:) I feel for Kimono having to use the squeaky cart, at my work there's one fabric bin that *never* wants to go in the direction you want it to. Very annoying!

Somehow I can't picture Kimono saying "oh gee", it sounds more Minty-ish to me. Of course being near Schon would make anyone's vocabulary go out the window, heehee!

I have a special knack for choosing the worst possible cart at the grocery store. I'm not sure if Kimono is bothered more by the squeakiness or the pinkness of her cart. :P

It's a rare glimpse of a flustered Kimono. ;)

I don't think I have to worry about putting them in print. I'm pretty sure I'd hear from Hasbro's lawyers. :P Thanks for your input, though. I think if I decide to take the pages larger, I'll make them longer instead of wider.

On the one hand, whatever size works for you, works for me. Seriously - you're the artist; you get to choose. :)

On the other hand, as mentioned below, there is a "posting to my f'list" issue with having bigger panels. However, there is a very simple solution - a single-panel lj-cut teaser image! so when I look at my f'list, it's not stretched out way all over the place, I'll see an image and go "Oooh new Kimono's Townhouse!" and click and get the big comic all by itself, and magic! ;)

Also... this is awesome, and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to read/comment on the last one until just now, but I have to say that your comics do a wonderful job of making me LOL on a regular basis. Yay ponies! :D

That's an idea! I probably won't go larger, since a clear majority wants to keep KT at the current size. But if I do, I can use a smaller, clickable image. ^_^

Aw, thanks! :D I'm glad people enjoy this!

I can't stop giggling. Poor Brightly. Poor Kimono must be so embarrassed!

Also, I find it hilarious that Brightly is the only guy and also is the only unicorn.

Spackles is a guy, and he's the only duck! ;D Kimono's pretty embarrassed, and I can certainly sympathize.

I'd totally go for the teaser shot and then a larger pic under a cut also, but without a cut, I fear stretching my page

I love how well you can light everything! do you use a flash at all? or an overhead? in all your spiffy scene building, dod you actually run electric for them?

Lighting! I use two lamps with GE Reveal bulbs, no camera flash and an increased exposure to gather more light. People on my flist were telling me flash is evil, so I stopped using it. o_O I didn't run any electricity, though! LOL! There are some built-in lights in Kimono's house, but I still need the lamps.

LOL! Yeah, at some point, LJ stopped letting us use "<" in posts and comments. I have three or four ASCII entities memorized, and that's one of 'em, simply because I have to type it so often. :P

Back to your original comment, Brightly is definitely irritated. It's not easy being an oddity.

I voted to keep the current layout. Speaking from experience, part of the challenge (and fun) of creating a comic is adhering to a strict amount of space. Personally, I think you've adapted to that restriction really well, Dava. It helps mold your narrative voice into something distinct. (That's something I've wondered about on my own, actually; would expanding the number of panels, for example, change the "feel" of my comic).

Ever squeaky wheel is magnified for Kimono knowing she's headed to see BB, isn't it? I thought the addition of the pink part was clever for that.

I'd like them bigger when my connection is normal and smaller when it's shaped. :)

Nah, the current size is fine.
