The Future of KT

How do I start this?

When I first began KT in 2006, I didn't expect it to last long. It was just to amuse myself and my immediate circle of friends. To my surprise, it got somewhat popular, peaking around 2010. It has been slowly declining since then. Comments on social media have decreased. Traffic to the website has decreased.

At the same time, I recently was promoted at the paleontological site where I work. I have more responsibilities, and I work longer hours. After seven years of reliable, weekly updates, I find myself having to skip weeks or update a day late.

So I am left with a choice. I very much want to continue the comic--I still enjoy it, and I'm not quite done with my story. At the same time, it's clear that the current set-up is not working. Long-term, I have to decide if it's time to start winding the comic toward the end I have had in mind all along. More immediately, I have to decide if the weekly update schedule needs to change. That's where you come in.

Poll #1912400 KT Schedules

When should KT update?

Keep to the Wednesday schedule, even if sometimes, it's late
Switch to Mondays, so maybe it won't be late as often
Switch to Tuesdays, so maybe it won't be late as often

I don't mind when you update. I think you should update whenever you want to or whenever you are able to. :)
I enjoy the comic very much & I do hope you continue with it. <3

I think that you should update when it is convenient for you. Since you are busy at work perhaps updating twice a month instead of 4 times would be easier?

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but here's another body in the "I will read and enjoy regardless of day or frequency" line.

Post what you want, when you want, where you want. I am glad to read the comic. It is FUN! But honestly, if you also posted occasionally about your work, that would be awesome too! It sounds like things are really good for you right now.

I... like this idea a lot.

Your poll needs another option: I don't care, as long as you keep doing the comic!

Yeah, I wanted this option as well. :)

hi hi

I don't really know what your schedule is like, so I can't really be any kind of judge. Just update whenever is easiest for you. If you have to update every other week, or whatever, go for it. This comic is great, and I'm going to miss it a whole bunch when its over... but you should have fun with it.

I like the comic, and would be happy with whatever day you can update, even if you have to slide it to twice a month.
I clicked the "Wednesday" option on the poll, because it's got the "even if it's late" part.

As other posters have said, I'd be happy with any new KT comics when you have the time to make them. I'm a long time reader but I don't comment as my time is full with a 10 month old. Also, I don't use LJ anymore and had forgotten my login info, lol. I use RSS to make sure I get to read your updates. But I fully understand real life, congrats on the job promotion!, and how it affects Internet life.

Hey there sweets,

I'm one of those people who always read anything but never post anything and I rarely comment... I'm an internet wall flower..

But I love your comic so much!!

So, I just wanted to say, it doesn't matter how often you post or on what day. You could go bi-weekly or monthly, perhaps?

*big hugs* :D

I'm going for option (d) as noted a few times above. ^_^ I don't mind when updates arrive - I simply hope to be reading KT for a good while yet. Of course, it shouldn't ever become a burden; if it should ever become such, and you're no longer enjoying bringing us their tales, I doubt any of us would begrudge KT ending.

Needless to say, I'm delighted the reason you're faced with such a decision is because of your professional success. ^_^

Chiming in with the "maybe every other week" crowd. It's on my LJ fpage so I'll catch all of them. OTOH people who aren't me might forget to check the page if it's only twice a month.

Do you post a Twitter link? I'm getting a lot of my comic links on Twitter now and it's easy for me to retweet them to get a wider audience.

Real life always comes first. Just update when you can and I'm happy. :)

Ditto to pretty much everyone. I didn't vote because I too want the "update whenever you can" option. ;)

Depending on how long it takes to make one comic, are you able to shoot 4-5 at one go on a relaxing weekend? Maybe doing arcs would be easier in that respect - you only need one day of setting up and shooting to cover a month's-worth of comics.

eta: jelly re: your job. I'm using my archaeology degree.... at a software company. -_- siiiiigh.
