Sometimes, life hands you irony. My husband and I don't drink alcohol. It's not a morality judgment. We just sniff it and think, "Ew! People drink this?!" The irony of the situation is that he and I work together at a liquor store. I have a bad habit of saying things that could be misinterpreted, and it's even worse if people know where I work. I pretty much cannot talk about drinks without people assuming the wrong thing. Of course, I say that, and now I'm going to talk about tea.:P

Every now and then, I manage to give up caffeine for awhile. I did this again a few months ago, swearing off my beloved Dr Pepper. Then, last month, I discovered chai masala. I have been shamelessly hooked ever since. So tasty!

I know I promised new wallpapers last week, but I ended up having a bunch of other, weirder things to handle, so I will have to try again. New stuff soon! Promise! In the mean time, fans of 28 Days Later can entertain themselves with a fan movie my husband and his brother made. It combines paintball and zombies, and really... who doesn't love that?

Heeey, another person who doesn't drink! HAI THAR! :D (Sorry, it's just so rare to find people who just don't enjoy alcohol. I always get excited when I find someone who doesn't drink!)

(In fact, I *so* don't drink that I didn't get the joke for a minute. XD The first thing I thought of was Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks!)

Okay, chai? Is AMAZING. Haven't you heard? Things that taste that good have no nutritional data at all. No calories, no carbs, no caffeine, no nothing! New law, just made it right now!

Two questions:
1. The library set wouldn't happen to be, like, a playset from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or something, would it? It heavily reminds me of the Sunnydale High library!
2. In the second panel, is there actually a tongue in Kimono's mouth, or is that a trick of the angle?

We are rare, but we're out here!(toasts with soft drink)

I'd heard so much about chai, but never tried it. I got some on a whim, and OMG! I had two cups and quickly learned how much caffeine it has. :P

1. It is, indeed, a BTVS playset! I don't care for the show, but the playset is spiffy.
2. Actual tongue!

If you add whipped cream, it is Food of the Gods. (And generally cools it down a little faster, which is good for me because I always burn my mouth trying to drink it as soon as possible.)

Haha, that library set works so well! And how ironic that it's so very Pony-proportioned!

...Now I want all my Ponies to have tongues. o_o

I drink on occasion, but I like drinks that don't taste like alcohol.

I always hear that such things exist, but I am skeptical. I think people just learn to ignore the taste. :P

The only drink I've smelled that didn't offend my nose was cinnamon schnapps. I have it on good authority, though, that cinnamon schnapps is the very last thing you'd ever want to throw up.

Drinking breakfast at my house usually means a diet shake. :) We don't drink alcohol either, so we have no idea what other people are thinking....

Hee hee, it's awesome when our art imitates our lives...(except when black paint runs amok).

Something I notice in this particular cartoon is how...flawless everything looks, how the ponies' skin practically glows and their hair looks so glossy. Good camera and lighting!

Aww, thank you! I wish my photography were always so nice.

If you'd ever like to try some really good chai...
get some of the Temple Chai from Holy Mountain Trading Company. It has extra cardamom and vanilla in it. You can actually brew several pots from a couple of spoonfuls of the loose chai.

Their other teas are delicious too. A friend turned me on to them, and now I'm becoming a tea nut.

Re: If you'd ever like to try some really good chai...
Ooh! I haven't had chai with vanilla in it. I hear that's an American addition. I love the cardamom and ginger. They're so soothing to the stomach.

omg - this made me snort!
I drank my breakfast too...Dr. Pepper. ^_^

Is the chai masala bagged tea you'd buy an a grocery store, or something you get at a local coffee shop? (Just wondering if I can find some to try it!)

I have been mostly caffeine-free for a year and a half now (it helps keep me more stable, emotionally)! Gave up pop way long ago, but then also gave up coffee (except for decaf). But, I can't seem to give up my tea, though. ::clings to it::

You can buy your own chai, or you can get it at a local coffee shop. The coffee shops tend to call it "chai latte" because it has milk. I've been drinking International Foods chai, which probably isn't the best brand, but I'm new to chai, and it makes me happy.

I gave up caffeine for the same reason! I discovered I'm not nearly as anxious when I'm not drinking caffeine. Chai is made with assam black tea, and it's equal to about half a cup of coffee, so I only have it a few times a week.

I always get chai with soy at my favorite coffee shop!

It is also why I don't drink alcohol as often, either--it just messes too badly with me and causes havoc with my sleeping patterns (which are always dicey!).
Feb. 25th, 2009 06:22 pm (UTC)
Chai with soy is very healthy! Chai is full of all sorts of helpful compounds, which is why I don't feel bad about drinking it.

The brand I use is General Foods International. Thought I should correct that.
Feb. 25th, 2009 06:36 pm (UTC)
Right! I knew you meant the General Foods International things, no worries!

*invades with an alcoholic userpic* I got the joke right away, oh yes. ;)

Kimono's expressions in this one work so perfectly -- excellent poses and angles, etc. And who wouldn't have a little crush on a guy who smells like cinnamon rolls? Seriously.

You're making me want some chai.

I once liked a guy who obsessively ate Altoids. I still think of him when I smell peppermint. :P

I can see why you'd think that about beer (I do!), but there's a lot to be enjoyed with mixed drinks, and there's a couple of wines that should not be missed. =)

That being said, I would have known what Kimono meant--tea or chai or an energy drink.
Feb. 26th, 2009 01:08 am (UTC)
Nah. It's my professional opinion, as I sell the stuff for a living, that none of it would ever suit me. I'll stick with my tea. ^_^
Feb. 26th, 2009 08:09 pm (UTC)
Lol. Tea's pretty awesome, too. =)
Feb. 26th, 2009 01:32 am (UTC)
I love my GOOD beer. Like Blue Moon!

Oh and the movie your husband and his brother made is awesome. My boyfriend loves paintball and zombies and now he wants to make a movie now. Oh god....I'm sure I'll be involved somehow. Probably the dead victim in the woods. xD
Feb. 26th, 2009 01:42 am (UTC)
Thanks! I'll tell him you said that. It'll make his day. ^_^
