My husband and I have a policy of not refusing aid to anyone who needs it, human or otherwise, so when we found an abandoned kitten a few weeks ago, we took her in. I've had little experience with cats in my life, being seriously allergic, so the past few weeks, I have been learning about cat behavior. I think I would sum it up as mostly endearing, with occasional moments of inexplicable meanness. If they were human, we'd call them sociopaths. Cute, cuddly sociopaths.

I'm predicting icon requests, so here you go:

I have lots of auctions ending today, and I will be listing some very special ones this afternoon. Be on the watch for a one-time-only Minty in Batmint costume!

Also, it's a new month, so don't forget to vote. If KT stays in the top 100 of Top Web Comics for a day, there will be a bonus comic Monday, July 26.

Haha yep that's a cat alright. Only mine end up licking me like crazy instead of biting..they are...special. haha.

Same with mine! And even though I'm the one who feeds her, she won't sit in my lap -- only my fiance's!

OMG, I haven't! That's so funny. XD I keep hearing so much about the nighttime activities of cats, but I'm blissfully unaware, since little Reese spends her nights in our workshop.

Definite sociopaths--although some a bit more than others. My Rocky Balboa, for instance, will claw me if I don't pet him and bite me if I pet him too much. There is a fine line of lovin' that he demands.

Mona Lisa, on the other hand, just doesn't like being held at all. Otherwise she seems mostly sane.

Cats are awesome. :)

My cat does this: Demands to be petted. Then you start petting her and everything is good for a while. Then, suddenly, the cat decides you're molesting her and she attacks your hand.

Ahhh,the belly of doom game.

Oh,cats! In the 40,000 years they've been domesticated (the shortest of any animal) no-one has ever figured them out .Kipling in the Cat That walked Alone comes nearest.I'm sure many cat slaves here can help with advice and encouragement.

Actually it's about 4,000 years.

It was the Egyptians who domesticated them first.

But they're not the shortest. The budgie you see at the pet store is a recent domestication, amongst others.

Oh you silly, silly boy Brightly not petting Topaz right away. *tsks* I'd wager to guess he won't make that same mistake ... at least for a week. ;)

Sounds right!
I have an indoor cat, and a german shepherd. Today, when I got home from the mall, my cat walked over to the dog treats, and stuck his head in the bag, then knocked it over. I told him he couldn't have one because they were too big for him. So he walked over and sat on my lap...then bit me.
Cats just bite...a lot. One minute they love EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, then the next they're out to get you. Nutty creatures.

lol cats...

mine thinks that biting = love

Awww, poor Brightly!

Kittens are delightful little demons! Here is my advice: if a kitten starts spazzing and attacking your hand, keep your hand completely still until Kitty loses interest. Yes, you will be in pain. Your hands will bear impressive scratches for many weeks. But in the long run, it's worth it because the kitten will eventually decide your hands make BORING toys. Toys that struggle and wiggle = fun. Toys that just sit there like lumps = lame. Also, invest in a kitty wand. They love those things.
