Based on an actual conversation my husband and I had last week. I have a list of words I cannot stand to hear misused. He pointed out that the meaning of words change over time, but I won't have it.

Many apologies for the late update! As most of you know, I live in Texas, where we are having an outbreak of massive wildfires, in addition to a dust storm blowing in from Kansas. So far, there are no fires in my immediate area, but I've been breathing who-knows-what for about a week, and I've felt ill for days now. If you're in an affected area, stay safe and hang in there!

Ahaha, my husband and I just had this conversation last night! We focused on how "accelerate" was misused, which eventually spawned "decelerate" - and that is apparently a nonsense word which shouldn't have meaning at all. Whew knew.

And yes, I just typed whew when I meant who. Not sure if I should claim that I was going for a silly accent or admit it was because I was up half the night discussing the misuse of words.

Sort of! Both are legit words, and both have different meanings, depending on whether you're talking physics or just having regular conversation. It's a little like the common understanding of "theory," which people say when they mean "hypothesis." Theory is a big combination of laws that becomes a discipline, not a hunch on why something happened.
