And with that, I will never be able to show my face in public again.

When I was a kid, I converted my Show Stable into a library, which was headed by Blossom, the purple librarian and a prototype of sorts for Kimono. I filled this library with dozens of magazines, as well as some hardcover books I bound by hand. I should note that the illustrations here show my ponies exactly as I had them styled at the time. The earrings they wore, the gold twisty tie I wrapped around Snookums's horn, everything.

Aww, no, these are brilliant! Like, seriously, you shouldn't be ashamed of something you did as a kid. It's so cool to be able to see & nostalgic & all that. It makes me want to do stuff with my ponies even more.

Snooky should pay you royalties, and you obviously used the name before her.... although the pony form is much less scary.

That is just too adorable!

This was much the same as my first response. You made Snooky before Snooky was "cool".

Aw, that's exactly the kind of thing I used to do as a kid. Thanks for sharing that with us. So cute!

My Pop made me a huge play stable/dollhouse to keep my ponies in, the bottom storey was a nightclub.

In my ponyland Baby Cuddles dealt drugs behind the nightclub because she wasn't old enough to get in.

Tex and Princess Primrose were happily married and always renewing their vows, until 1990 when Bride Pony (who I named Lily) came into town. Tex dumped Primrose for Lily right away and Primrose became a drunk and would often have bitch sessions with Dara, the Fashion Star Filly who had also been jilted by her man.

Gosh my ponyland was drama drama drama. I was a twisted kid.

You drew better ponies then than I did at 10. Ah, the things we do when we're kids, eh?

Don't be ashamed, cause I used to draw like this

(mind you I was a bit younger. maybe 7)

I'll have to scan the stuff I did when I was that age. If anything, because it's decaying so much.

oh my word, that is just too precious. However I can't say the same for Sundance and those CREEPY AS HELL BBEs. *shudder*

I am amused that she's obviously a BBE in that drawing. XD

OMG. This is so close to the little zine I made for my ponies. I LOVED Ember (she was my favorite "baby pony") and while I didn't have Moondancer, I had Windy, who was my doctor/archaeologist/explorer pony (and, like you, I suspect a prototype for the characters who would later populate my novels and RPGs.) I didn't have the Show Stable, but I did have the Pretty Parlor, still one of the best Christmas presents I have ever received.

(Ember was also a great favorite because I had to send away for her, and get my very reluctant Mom's permission to do so. I loved her so fiercely, I think, as a way to show my Mom that it hadn't, in fact, been a waste of money.)

Yeah... this is awesome. And it made smile. :)

LOL!!! You know, it's kind of eerie how alike our old pony drawings are. It makes sense since we were both drawing from some of the same "models," but still. We had the same understanding of things like perspective and foreshortening, I guess! My baby ponies were also in bands at one point, and somewhere I have a little band poster I drew that looks just like these.

Happy 300! (And now I'm imagining Gerard Butler screaming "THIS IS TOWNHOUSE!" in honor of the landmark you've reached.)

I like that you wrote about one of them "believing in civil rights" in the midst of the rest, who really like to dance! Destined to be a history major?

That is so extremely cute, and much better than anything I ever drew ! I was 7 that year. :D

Congratulations on 300! :D

Those are awesome! I could instantly tell Sunny was BBE Baby Sundance because of the eyeshadow.

Not that there ever was a NBBE Baby Sundance, but you know what I mean.

I had Baby Moondancer as a kid (but of course) and she certainly was "one heck of a unicorn."

I find it hilarious that I had the same exact My Little Ponies that you did.

I made my Baby Cuddles an evil demon though and painted black sharpie eyebrows on it. I always regretted that, haha.

Loooove it!!!

I was never really into My Little Ponies as a kid, I enjoyed the show from time to time, but we never had cable, so I didn't really get into it and I never had one of those "all little girls love ponies" stages, but I've always been a huge fan of Sailor Moon and I did something similar with that when I was a kid. I actually wrote about it on my Tumblr. Maybe it will make you smile. http://junglegardensenshi.tumblr.com/post/3505849269/all-aboard-the-nostalgia-train

(By the way, Melany, Britney, and Ann all had a band too. It was called Crystal Millennium, which was obviously taken from Crystal Tokyo and the Silver Millennium.)
