I know, right?! Look on eBay for "gashapon machine." You'll find lots of miniature ones. :D

Hey now, don't knock legos - they saved Hammond's* mind, so they're good for therapy, at the very least. ^^ We all need that after a stressful day at work, right? ;)

Now, is the toy inside the mini egg real???
Sep. 7th, 2011 08:04 pm (UTC)
Sort of! Each capsule has a clear disk with the image of a toy on it. They open, though, so if you wanted to put real toys in them, you could.

That noise you hear is the sound of the American public school system weeping quietly in the corner.

THIS. The incorrect math wasn't what bothered me most. I'm not that great at math, either! But one of those items was more than the kid had, so the sad attempt at addition wasn't even necessary.

The box is a Hot Wheels track. ^_^

weeeell, the parent might have been willing to fill in the extra three if the kid wanted the game; if the deal was "one toy or as much as you can get for 13 dollars." But distraction is more likely ;-)

I disagree so much with parents doing this. When I went to the store with my mom, I could buy whatever I had the money for. She didn't pitch in--not even for tax. I quickly learned that just because I had $5, I couldn't get something that cost $4.99. That's an important lesson! Mom won't always be there to bail you out when you're at the check-out counter.

I still haven't learned that when I visit the States. xD Damn prizes that don't show the tax.

And a big lol at the comic.

And this is why the functionally dysnumeric don't leave the house without a calculator.

To the parent's defense (and god knows she needs one): I would totally say something like that after a very very long day, checking out at the zoo gift shop or something. @_@

Like I commented above, the sad attempt at math wasn't what bothered me most. I'm not so great at math, either. One of the items was more than what the kid had, so his mom's attempt at addition was totally unnecessary. :P

I did kinda feel bad for her, though. Pretty soon, that kid will be able to outsmart her.

Actually, that makes sense. 6 + 17 is more than 20, carry the 1, = 21!

That reminds me of a lil incident that happened to my daughter and me at one of those places with fast foods and those crane machines. My daughter (who is an expert on crane machines) put her money in one and was working it when a mom and a young boy walked by. The boy was whining about trying it and the mother told him 'No, nobody ever wins at those things.'
Right after they left daughter got TWO of the plushies at one play!
Bet that mom would've hated her if her boy had seen that! 'See Mom! See? She got TWO toys!!! She won!! I wanna try now!!'

Oh good grief. O_o

She would have been better if she was adamant about just getting the truck, then. ;P

Not related to the convo, but...

What Pokemon did Minty get? I'm guessing that it's a Dialga [because it looks blue], but...

[Do they even make miniatures of vending machine toys?]
Sep. 1st, 2011 04:27 am (UTC)
Oh, wait; never mind.

Eye fail—I thought it was the Pokemon machine, not the Disney machine Minty got her toy from. ^^;;
Sep. 1st, 2011 05:32 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's a Stitch. ^_^

Your comic makes me do something, I didn't do since I was a little child.
I can spend all day just looking at the pictures. *_* <3
Is it my fantasy or do I spy a Chocobo in the shelf?

And did you likewise cough when you overheard said conversation? ;)
